Islanders Fall Short, 4-3, at Jacksonville
|
The game between Jacksonville and Hawaii is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Jacksonville Jacks topped the Hawaii Islanders, 4-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at Skellington Stadium. The player of the game was Jacksonville pitcher Mai Do. Jacksonville reliever Enrique Morales got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Joe Good was tagged with the loss.
Had Juan Villa not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Villa hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Jacks.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Do, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Jacksonville, now 3-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
