Hinton Helps Cornhuskers Run Win Streak to 7
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers extended their winning streak at Cobras Ballpark.
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Doug Hinton, the DeKalb Cornhuskers defeated the Newark Jail Birds, 11-4. Hinton went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for the Cornhuskers. The win was Kazushige Kichida's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Daniel White took the loss for Newark.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 3rd and two out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when center fielder Neal Harris drew a walk. The Cornhuskers went on to win.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Hinton said.
This win makes it 7 in a row for DeKalb.
