Storm Troopers Get One-Run Win at Marysville
|
The San Antonio Storm Troopers topped the Marysville Monarchs, 5-4, in Bob Moose League action at Mitts Fieldhouse. The player of the game was San Antonio pitcher and Virgin Islands native Douggie Gimson. Gimson went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 6-8. Felipe Pérez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 11 save opportunities.
Kuniyasu Sato aided the San Antonio cause with a 2-run single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Gimson, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The win boosts the Storm Troopers to 78-65. The loss puts the Monarchs at 65-76.
