Victory Pushes Hawks Record to 72-70
|
It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Hawks fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.
The Boise Hawks got a stellar performance from pitcher José Garza, who handcuffed the Carson City offense en route to a 4-1 win at Basque Block Field. Garza, now 10-7, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 5, and allowing 1 earned run.
Boise shortstop Jose Ortiz contributed to the cause with a double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Ortiz went 1 for 2 with a double.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Garza. "Obviously."
The Hawks bumped their record to 72-70 with this latest triumph.
