So Cal starter Jin-woo Pi pitched effectively against the Bloomington Blazers at Arson Arena. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Pi, now 3-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Pin-zhen Au, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when designated hitter Zeus Mayhem, who is tied for 9th in the RCL in home runs with 10, hit a single. The Republic went on to win.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Mayhem said.

The Republic bumped their record to 31-17 with this latest triumph.
