Beetlecats Drop Hackers with Late Score
|
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats took Silicon Valley pitcher Ken Stein's best shot and still were able to claim a win at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The final score had Buzzard's Bay getting past the Hackers, 6-4. Stein went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 3. The winner was Jesús Tobías, who threw 90 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 9 hits. Ji-hwan Yea got the save, his 32nd in 35 chances.
Kanzaburo Takahashi helped out the Buzzard's Bay cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk.
In postgame comments to the Buzzard's Bay Bulletin, Takahashi said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Beetlecats bumped their record to 72-68 with this latest triumph.
