Buzzard's Bay got a terrific performance from pitcher Mike Wolcott, but it wasn't enough to beat the Silicon Valley Hackers. Silicon Valley won the San Jose Municipal Stadium contest, 4-2. Wolcott was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Silicon Valley reliever Lee Krause, now 8-1. The loser was Takashi Toru. The Hackers, now 77-59, have won 7 in a row.

Had Lance Vallery not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Vallery hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Hackers.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Vallery said.
