Islanders Score Late to Upend Toreros, 3-2
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros got a superb performance from pitcher Phoenix Smith. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hawaii. The Islanders won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Smith was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. The Islanders bumped their record to 27-18 with this latest triumph.

The Islanders got a big at-bat from third baseman Jim Burry. For the game, Burry went 2-4 with 2 singles. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 51st hit of the season gave Hawaii a 3-2 lead.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Burry told the Hawaii News.
