The Wichita Wolverines got a strong performance from pitcher Carlos Muńóz, who stymied the Rock River offense en route to a 5-2 win at The Rat Hole. Wichita reliever Pedro Galló got the win, raising his record to 8-1. Lúcio Barrón was tagged with the loss. Al Hrabosky Jr. was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 33 of 36 save opportunities.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from designated hitter Lloyd Noland. For the game, Noland went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Wichita a 5-2 lead.

"I thought we played a nice game," Muńóz told the Wichita Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

Wichita is now 77-57, 5 games up in the Bob Moose League Jim Leyland Division.
