Storm Troopers Score Late to Upend Cornhuskers, 3-2
|
The San Antonio Storm Troopers topped the DeKalb Cornhuskers by the score of 3-2, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Peter Southern. Southern was 1-1 with a home run for the Storm Troopers. Steve Becker was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 18 save opportunities. The Storm Troopers bumped their record to 73-62 with this latest triumph.
It could have been a different outcome for San Antonio, had it not been for Kian Viccars, the 26-year old right fielder . Viccars contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put San Antonio up, 2-0.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said DeKalb manager Eduardo Varerla.
