Spokane pitcher Seijii Matsumura did his part in helping his team beat the Topeka Predators, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Matsumura, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 4, and allowing 1 earned run. Tokuhei Yano was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 23 save opportunities.
Spokane second baseman Mike Pope contributed to the cause with a triple in the top of the first. For the game, Pope was 1 for 4 with a triple and a walk.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Spokane manager Chris Carpenter.
Spokane now has a 4-game win streak.
