Jail Birds Drop Snaps with Late Score
|
The Newark Jail Birds stopped the Cincinnati Snaps, 7-6, at Cobras Ballpark. The Jail Birds got a big game from Augusto Murillo, who was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The winner was Fabio de Kroon in relief. His record improves to 6-4. Cisco Núñez took the loss. Newark, at 57-74, sits in 5th place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
Murillo had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Cisco Núñez, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Jail Birds a 7-6 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Murillo.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Murillo told the Newark Chronicle.
