Rats Get Road Win, 6-3
|
Rats shortstop Luis Alvarez put his stamp on his team's 6-3 win over the Boise Hawks. Alvarez went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Rock River in the contest. The winner was Clement Bowden, who threw 84 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. The first-place Rats, at 76-54, now lead their division by 3½ games.
Alvarez had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from Sung-moon Lee, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Rats a 4-2 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Alvarez.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Alvarez. "And not try to do too much."
