Beetlecats Topple Shamrocks as Thorington Shines
|
Buzzard's Bay right fielder Joe Thorington was instrumental in his team's 6-1 win over the Pacifica Shamrocks. Thorington went 3-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Beetlecats. Robert Escobedo got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1 innings. Takashi Toru earned his 2nd save in 5 chances.
Thorington had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Hirotada Nan, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Beetlecats a 4-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Thorington.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Thorington said after the game.
The Beetlecats bumped their record to 67-60 with this latest triumph.
