The Phoenix Lights topped the Marysville Monarchs, 8-5, in Cory Lidle League action at Mitts Fieldhouse. The player of the game was Phoenix pitcher and Kumamoto, Japan native Ryuhei Akamine. Akamine went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-0. The Lights bumped their record to 61-60 with this latest triumph.

Hakaru Fukuda went 2-5 with 2 singles against the Monarchs. In the top of the first inning, he reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run, putting Phoenix in front, 1-0.

In comments to the Phoenix News, Akamine insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
