Salazar Dazzles in Eureka Win
|
The Eureka Hornets picked up a win at Memorial Circle Park, knocking off the Oklahoma City Prowlers, 1-0. On the mound for Eureka was left-hander Jorge Salazar, who played a pivotal role in the win. Elliott Rogers, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save. The Hornets bumped their record to 26-19 with this latest triumph.
Salazar, a native of Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, was dealing all game. He kept Oklahoma City hitters off-balance, while giving the Hornets 8 quality innings. Salazar threw 105 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.
"We played hard and won," said Salazar. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
