The bats were silent much of the day at UFO Field. But Bill Corkum conjured up just enough offense to carry the Lights past the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 2-1. Corkum was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Juan Salinas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 26 of 29 save opportunities. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Lights.
Corkum had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 splitter from Takashi Toru, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Lights a 2-1 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Corkum.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Phoenix manager George Alexander Lewis.
