Reilley Excels, But Beehive Win
|
Madison withstood an impressive performance by Carson City catcher Gene Reilley to defeat the Mustang, 6-4, at Cowboys Stadium. Reilley went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Nick Copeland, credited with the win, is now 3-11. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 5 innings. Even with the win, the Beehive have a dismal 39-83 record.
Gonzalo Rodríguez aided the Madison cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the first. For the game, the catcher was 1-3 with 2 walks. He scored 2 runs.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Beehive manager Quinn Patrick. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
