Portland beat San Diego in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Portland Beavers picked up a win at Waterfront Park, knocking off the San Diego Hops, 6-0. On the mound for Portland was right-hander Rolf Pals, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Beavers raised their record to 22-25.

Pals, a native of Willemstad, Curaçao, was dealing all game. He kept San Diego hitters off-balance, while giving the Beavers 7.2 quality innings. Pals threw 112 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 9.

"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Pals.
