Nelson Excels, But Rats Win
|
Fraser Valley center fielder Cody Nelson was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Rock River beat the Black Bears, 10-8. Nelson was named the player of the game despite the loss. Hima Chinnappan got the save, his 18th in 21 chances. Rock River is now 70-50, 2½ games up in the Bob Moose League Bruce Bochy Division.
Harry May, who is rated as the 82nd best prospect by BNN, helped out the Rock River cause in the top of the seventh inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the left fielder went 3 for 6 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Bruce Leah said.
