Beavers Solve Hops, 5-3
|
The Portland Beavers relied on the hitting of catcher Phillip Lewis to stop the San Diego Hops, 5-3. For the game, Lewis went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Felipe De La Hoya earned the win for Portland. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 4-5. Olivier Martin closed it out for his 7th save.
Lewis had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Beavers went on to win.
"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Portland manager John Harrison said afterward.
Portland goes to 21-25, San Diego to 17-27.
