Hackers Turn Back Youngstown, 4-2
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers topped the Youngstown Tune-Ups, 4-2, with center fielder Francisco Fernández playing a big role. Fernández went 3-4 with 3 singles for the Hackers in the win. Quiang Tu earned his 9th save in 10 chances. At 65-52, Silicon Valley is in second place in the Cory Lidle League Lou Piniella League.
Fernández had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from Ron Harris, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Hackers a 1-0 lead. It was the 47th hit of the year for Fernández.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Silicon Valley manager Bob Miller. "It's usually not just one thing."
