Black Bears Fall Short at DeKalb
Fraser Valley got a terrific performance from pitcher John Ketchum, but it wasn't enough to beat the DeKalb Cornhuskers. DeKalb won the The Corn Crib contest, 6-5. Ketchum was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of shutout ball. DeKalb reliever David Gilmour was the winner. His record is now 1-3. Shu-de Tian took the loss. The win boosts the Cornhuskers to 59-60. The loss puts the Black Bears at 67-52.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With DeKalb trailing 5-4, Masao Sakamoto hit a cutter from Shu-de Tian to left for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Cornhuskers had a walk-off win.

"This place was rockin'," said Sakamoto.
