Girard Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Jacksonville in Walk-Off Win
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers got a superb performance from pitcher Lee Krause. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Jacksonville. The Hellcats won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Krause was named the player of the game. He came in in relief and pitched to 17 batters . The win was Jon Givens's in relief. His record improves to 4-9. Terry Yarrigle took the loss for Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley, at 62-50, has lost 4 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jean-Yves Girard came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Silicon Valley pitcher Terry Yarrigle, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Jacksonville on top, 5-4.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Girard said.
