The Fraser Valley Black Bears downed the Topeka Predators, 8-7, at The Stetson Bowl. The Black Bears were led by Colin Carpenter, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. Shu-de Tian picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-5. Tomas Fuentes was tagged with the loss. At 59-47, the Black Bears find themselves in second place in the Bob Moose League Bruce Bochy Division.

The Black Bears beat the Predators in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Milt Mezzanotte produced in the bottom of the tenth. Batting against Topeka pitcher Tomas Fuentes, Mezzanotte gave his team a 8-7 lead when he hit a walk-off run-scoring single.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Carpenter told the Fraser Valley Daily News.
