Wolverines Lose, 6-1, at Cobras Ballpark
|
The Newark Jail Birds went home winners at Cobras Ballpark, thanks in large part to starter Ron Ogden. Ogden silenced the Wichita Wolverines, enabling Newark to grab the 6-1 win. Ogden went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-2. Eduardo Muniz got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances.
The Jail Birds got a big at-bat from first baseman Brendan Webb. For the game, Webb went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Newark a 2-0 lead.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Webb.
With the win, Newark goes to 48-55, while the Wolverines fall to 55-46.
