Stogies Lose to Mafia, 6-3
|
Fans at Don Corleone Park were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown New York Mafia take on the Havana Stogies.
The New York Mafia topped the Havana Stogies, 6-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at Don Corleone Park. The player of the game was New York pitcher Lex Herrewijn. Herrewijn picked up the win for New York, going 8.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0.
The Mafia got a big at-bat from shortstop Kulaja Godambe. For the game, Godambe went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 5th hit of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
"It feels good to get this one," Godambe told the New York Chronicle.
The Mafia, with just their 1st win in 5 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
