New York Mafia starter Ron Ogden turned in a top-notch performance against the Hawaii Islanders at Aloha Stadium. The result was a win for the Mafia, 3-2. Ogden went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-6. New York is last in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division with a record of 16-29.
The Mafia got a big at-bat from right fielder Edward MacKinley. For the game, MacKinley was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave New York a 3-2 lead.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Ogden said.
