Black Bears Win Thriller, 9-8
The Fraser Valley Black Bears outlasted Matthew Bauer and the Boise Hawks, 9-8. Bauer was impressive in the loss. The Boise shortstop went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Yoichibei Matsubara got credit for the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. The Black Bears move to 54-46 with the win, while the Hawks drop to 52-45.

The Black Bears got a big at-bat from center fielder Randy Griffin. For the game, Griffin was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the 11th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 37th hit of the season gave Fraser Valley a 9-8 lead.

"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Griffin said.
