The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats beat the Topeka Predators, 14-0, at The Field at Richmond. The Beetlecats got a fine performance from catcher Juan Cruz, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Buzzard's Bay reliever Mike Phelan picked up the win, bumping his record to 8-3. Angel Chavez was collared with the loss. The Beetlecats bumped their record to 51-50 with this latest triumph.

Joaquín Salas aided the Buzzard's Bay cause with a 2-run double in the top of the first. For the game, the shortstop went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Cruz.
