The Portland Beavers picked up a win at Waterfront Park, knocking off the Rubber City Rhinos, 7-1. On the mound for Portland was right-hander Hajime Ota, who played a pivotal role in the win. Ota, now 2-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The save was Manuel Martínez's, his 2nd.
Vihaan Vedant, who is tied for 10th in the RCL in total bases with 79, aided the Portland cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder went 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Enjoyed this one," Ota told the Portland Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
After today's action, Portland sits at 20-24, while Rubber City falls to 28-16.
