Lights Bang Out 6-0 Win Versus Pacifica
|
The Phoenix Lights grabbed a 6-0 win over the Pacifica Shamrocks at UFO Field. Phoenix right fielder Bill Corkum went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. The winner was Phoenix reliever Arturo Mercado, now 3-2. The loser was Owen Kay. At 42-47, the Lights find themselves in 4th place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
The Lights ran into trouble in the top of the third. The score was 1-0, Phoenix, with two out. Pacifica, with the bases loaded, had Barry Huffman at the plate. With a base hit, he could have changed the complexion of the game. Instead, he flied out and the Lights went on to win.
