Tight Tilt Goes to Beehive, 3-2
|
Wichita got a terrific performance from pitcher Magyver McKenzie, but it wasn't enough to beat the Madison Beehive. Madison won the Howling Park contest, 3-2. McKenzie was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Duane Fraser got the save, his 12th in 18 chances. Even with the win, the Beehive have a dismal 30-61 record.
The Beehive got a big at-bat from second baseman Cris Serrano. For the game, Serrano was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Madison a 3-1 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Serrano, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
