The exploits of left fielder Marc Dale helped the Sandy Springs Spartans defeat the Long Island Ducks, 10-2. Dale was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The Spartans bumped their record to 49-42 with this latest triumph.

Sandy Springs used the bat of Shoji Hosokawa to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Spartans ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Long Island manager Elvis Callahan. "We got flat-out beat."
