Mustang Come Up Short at San Antonio
|
Carson City got a terrific performance from pitcher Graeme Priday, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Antonio Storm Troopers. San Antonio won the The Clone Army contest, 3-2. Priday was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Dennis Hale, the winner, improved to 7-2. He held the Mustang to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Felipe Pérez got the save, his 3rd in 5 chances.
The Storm Troopers got a big at-bat from shortstop Francisco González. For the game, González went 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 65th hit of the season gave San Antonio a 3-2 lead.
González told the San Antonio Observer: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
San Antonio is 51-42 and Carson City, with the loss, 46-43.
