Saenz Helps Ducks Run Win Streak to 3
|
Long Island right fielder Oscar Saenz played a vital role in his team's 13-9 triumph over Spokane. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for Long Island. Ramón García got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Takamasa Oki got the save, his 15th in 20 chances.
The Ducks got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Dave Ryder. For the game, Ryder was 1-1 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 15th double of the season gave Long Island a 11-8 lead.
"Guys always talk about winning games because of the 'little things,'" Saenz told the Long Island Daily News. "Call me old fashioned, but I think baseball is about the big things -- like scoring more runs."
