Hackers Prevail, 6-4, Over Sandy Springs
|
The Sandy Springs Spartans got a superb performance from designated hitter Shoji Hosokawa, but the Silicon Valley Hackers still won the game, 6-4. Hosokawa was named the player of the game despite the loss. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Guo-xiu Du notched his 7th save in 8 chances. The first-place Hackers have a one-game lead in their division.
The Hackers got a big at-bat from center fielder Jonathan Weidlich. For the game, Weidlich went 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 44th hit of the season gave Silicon Valley a 3-1 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Weidlich told the Silicon Valley Times, "then get ready for the next game."
