Tune-Ups Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Youngstown beat Long Island on the strength of starter Jeff Spracklin's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 4-1 win. The winning pitcher was Spracklin, now 6-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Youngstown now has a 4-game win streak.
The Tune-Ups got a big at-bat from second baseman Rich Gonzalez. For the game, Gonzalez was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the seventh, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Youngstown a 2-1 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Youngstown manager Robby Tate. "It's usually not just one thing."
