Black Bears Come Back Late, Nip Lights
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Randy Griffin, the Fraser Valley Black Bears defeated the Phoenix Lights, 5-4. Griffin was 2-2 with 2 singles and 3 walks for the Black Bears. John Ketchum got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Shu-de Tian converted his 17th save in 21 tries.
The Black Bears got a big at-bat from first baseman Colin Carpenter. For the game, Carpenter was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the top of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 8th hit of the season gave Fraser Valley a 5-4 lead.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Carpenter.
