The Wichita Wolverines dealt the Long Island Ducks a 14-11 loss at Long Island Stadium. Shane Gross was the star on offense. He was 4 for 6 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Wichita reliever Pedro Galló picked up the win, upping his record to 6-1. Takamasa Oki shouldered the loss. The Wolverines bumped their record to 41-33 with this latest triumph.

Alan Isaac had a big 2-run single for the Wolverines in the top of the ninth inning. With Wichita trailing 10-9 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Takamasa Oki and stroked the single to right. It was his 92nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 11-10.

"Nervous? No," said Gross. "It was my time to shine."
