Monarchs Come Back Late to Clip Tune-Ups
|
Marysville withstood an impressive performance by Youngstown second baseman Rich Gonzalez to defeat the Tune-Ups, 6-5, at Mitts Fieldhouse. Gonzalez was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was Barry Sherman's in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Keisaburo Kanada took the loss for Youngstown. The Monarchs raised their record to 35-37.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Marysville trailing 5-4, Arvid Schwartz hit a fastball from Keisaburo Kanada to right for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Monarchs had a walk-off win.
"This place was electric at the end," Schwartz said.
