Marando drives in 5 runs in Bulldogs Win
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Spokane fans at The Kennel.
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 21-year old catcher Roberto Marando, the Spokane Bulldogs stopped the San Antonio Storm Troopers, 9-2. Tom Bennett got the win, improving to 6-2. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Norberto Bianchi was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
The Bulldogs got a big at-bat from third baseman Chia-liang Li. For the game, Li went 3-4 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Spokane a 2-1 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Li.
The Bulldogs, now at 42-30, know that wins in June count the same as wins in September.
