Wolverines Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
Fans who congregated at Long Island Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.

The Wichita Wolverines topped the Long Island Ducks, 9-5, in Bob Moose League action at Long Island Stadium. The player of the game was Wichita pitcher and Valle de Angeles, Honduras native Charlie Haydon. Wichita reliever Pedro Galló picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Takamasa Oki was saddled with the loss.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Ruben Santana. For the game, Santana went 1-1. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 18th hit of the season gave Wichita a 6-5 lead.

"We'll savor this win," Haydon told the Wichita Herald, "then get ready for the next game."
