Both teams had their chances, but the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats eventually prevailed at Hellcats Park.
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats got a strong performance from pitcher Mike Wolcott, who stymied the Jacksonville offense en route to a 2-1 win at Hellcats Park. Ji-hwan Yea converted his 17th save in 19 tries.
The Beetlecats got a big at-bat from designated hitter Douggie Hollands. For the game, Hollands went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the seventh, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Buzzard's Bay a 2-0 lead.
Afterward, Beetlecats manager Keith Irwin was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Beetlecats bumped their record to 36-36 with this latest triumph.
