Cornhuskers Bang Out 10-6 Win Versus Spokane
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers trumped the Spokane Bulldogs, 10-6, at The Corn Crib. DeKalb catcher Bailey Povey was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. DeKalb reliever Tai Quian picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Norberto Bianchi absorbed the loss. DeKalb has now won 3 in a row.
The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from center fielder Jason Colaianni. For the game, Colaianni was 2 for 5 with 2 triples. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 5th triple of the season gave DeKalb a 6-4 lead.
"We maximized our offense today," said DeKalb skipper Eduardo Varerla. "That makes everyone's life easier."
