What a day for Ángel Vázquez. The 34-year-old Jacksonville catcher reached the 2000-hit mark today and the Jacks whipped the New York Mafia 5-2.
Vázquez told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2000, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball."
He went 2 for 3 in the game to reach the milestone.
Vázquez's career batting average stands at .318, and he has 221 home runs.
