Tune-Ups Solve Red Bulls, 5-2
|
Youngstown and Riverside duked it out at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum and the Tune-Ups came out victorious.
The Youngstown Tune-Ups topped the Riverside Red Bulls, 5-2, with youngster John Gero playing a key role. Gero was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Tune-Ups in the win. The win boosts the Tune-Ups to 30-35. The loss puts the Red Bulls at 34-30.
Gero contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Youngstown in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Gero took a fastball from Charlie Bennett and stroked the home run to left. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Tune-Ups to leap in front, 4-1.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Gero said.
