Wolverines Get One-Run Win at Madison
|
The Wichita Wolverines handed the Madison Beehive a loss at The Hive. The final score was 4-3. Willis Pierce was named player of the game for Wichita. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 2. He also added 1 walk. Cliff McDaniel picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Duane Fraser was tagged with the loss. Al Hrabosky Jr. notched his 14th save in 16 chances.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Alan Isaac came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Madison pitcher Duane Fraser, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Wichita on top, 4-3.
"I like what I saw today," said Wichita manager Dave Moran, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Wolverines bumped their record to 34-27 with this latest triumph.
