Snaps Get Road Win, 4-3
|
The inspired effort of Topeka second baseman Dave Fennelly was not enough to prevent a 4-3 loss to the Cincinnati Snaps. Fennelly went 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Cincinnati starter Willard Stady was credited with the win after throwing 107 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 2-7. Shinji Makino was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 19 save opportunities.
Cincinnati used the bat of Gabe Hershberger to get the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Snaps ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Hershberger said.
Even with the win, the Snaps have a dismal 20-40 record.
