Cornhuskers Need Extras to Top Black Bears
Fraser Valley got a terrific performance from designated hitter Jack Zapor, but it wasn't enough to beat the DeKalb Cornhuskers. DeKalb won the The Stetson Bowl contest, 8-6. Zapor was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The Cornhuskers bumped their record to 35-26 with this latest triumph.

The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from right fielder José Marrero. For the game, Marrero went 1-5 with a double. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave DeKalb a 7-6 lead.

"I like our moxie," said Cornhuskers manager Eduardo Varerla.
